As required by NCLB, the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) made public the state's school report card. Education YES! Report Cards can be viewed at the MDE website.
On January 8, 2002, President Bush signed into law the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). This new law represents his education reform plan and contains the most sweeping changes to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) since it was enacted in 1965. The act contains the President's four basic education reform principles: stronger accountability for results, increased flexibility, expanded options for parents, and an emphasis on teaching methods that have been proven to work.
Michigan law has required an Annual Report for each school building and school district since 1990. The federal No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) has new requirements for a Report Card. The Department recommends that school districts include all required information from PA 25 and NCLB in one report document. MDE has developed several tools to bring all of the requirements into one place. You can access the tools at:
