Washtenaw ISD has used a preferred futuring process for long-range planning. This process has afforded us the opportunity to embark on several innovative initiatives. At the heart of this model is the idea that we can create the future we prefer (rather than only be reactive). It emphasizes clarity of organizational purpose, the use future trending and scenario development, understanding of the current reality and the creation of long term strategic focus areas or "big ideas." Some of the tools and resources that we have used are listed below.
