The Charts
Every grantwriter organizes his or her proposal development process in a different way. Some organize the work into piles on the dining room or kitchen table. Some use color-coded files and office stacking racks. Some use file drawers, three ring notebooks, index cards, fishbone diagrams, whiteboards or chalk. Others hand stacks of loosely related paper to their secretary for processing. And some use charts to check off needed items.
In an effort to provide organizational tools for every learning style, we have collected a selection of checklists for use in organizing the grantwriting process.
These are adaptations of documents used by real non-profit groups and school districts. Some were developed by grantwriting departments, and others were written by individuals.
Take a look at these examples. They are in pdf form on this website and can be downloaded and printed as they appear on your screen. Then modify them to suit your own style and needs.
The bottom line is that a good grant proposal is the product of planning and a compilation of information from many sources. These charts should help organize the final product.
