2010-11 was our first year providing pupil transportation to students in Ann Arbor, Willow Run and Ypsilanti School Districts. With a staff of 250 employees we provided transportation service to nearly 13,000 students on more than 750 daily bus runs. These students attend general education, special education and non-public programs in 60 schools located in Washtenaw County. We also performed more 3000 off site learning experiences and athletic trips both within and outside Washtenaw County.
Our fleet of 195 buses is maintained by 9 district mechanics. The buses used 343,500 gallons of fuel to travel more than 2,300,000 miles; the equivalent of more than 4.8 roundtrips to the moon. Each year all school buses must pass a vehicle safety inspection by a Michigan State Police Vehicle Inspector in addition to the daily vehicle inspections our drivers are required to perform.
